It’s been a week now since returning from the Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas, and what a week it was.
Experience is a word used pretty heavily these days in the tech industry – user experience, collaboration experience, integrated experience, and on. For the Digital Signage Expo, the word experience describes two days of visual technology innovation on the show floor, and the tagline for the show – ‘Transform the Customer Experience.’
Prior to the start of Day One, a group of industry journalists joined a pre-show press tour (led by Market Works Intl. Owner Geri Wolff) to see select products and solutions from a number of exhibitors. Some of the exhibitors at the press tour:
The press tour did give us a strategic position toward the front of the crowd waiting to enter the show floor.
I was able to catch a picture of Show Director Andrea Varrone, with scissors in hand, at the moment of the cut…
I’ve taken pictures of numerous ribbon cuttings, it’s always a great experience to be able to capture the moment.
And the crowd headed in.
On the show floor, visits of course with exhibitors – from major manufacturers to startups in the Launch Pad.
Here’s a snapshot of just some of the many.
Much activity throughout the two days in Central Park.
The DSE APEX Awards honor companies for their innovation, recognizing achievement in the installation of digital displays and interactive technology and the creation of compelling viewer content. Here are the winners.
A very special mention here for good friend Vice President of Strategic Management at NEC Display Solutions and former Digital Signage Federation Chairman Rich Ventura, who received the Legacy Award, and was presented the green jacket at the APEX Awards ceremony. The award was presented to him by another good friend, current DSF Chairman Spencer Graham.
A compelling experience at the Digital Signage Expo was followed up on The AV Life podcast this week as we invited four executives from exhibitors Adomni, Userful, Shuttle Computer Group and RedFalcon.AI (a startup company in the Launch Pad), along with Digital Signage Federation Chairman Spencer Graham and Education Committee/At-Large Board Member Ryan Cahoy to talk about the show.
Also listen to my Convergent Week podcast discussion with Kym Frank, President at Geopath as we talk about DSE and OOH.
One more note, my congratulations to Andrea Varrone, Geri Wolff and all who work hard throughout the year to put together the Digital Signage Expo, and to Peerless-AV for staging yet another incredible Partner Event.
Start making plans for DSE 2020!
