Hosts Corey Moss, Joe Whitaker (The Thoughtful Home), Kaleo Lee and Kym Frank bring you on a ride for this second episode of a new industry podcast that’s about tech, multiple realms of AV, other professions, and the same good time you’d have at a trade show after party. Just without the champagne and dancing girls — we give you bourbon and a somewhat happy bartender.

The guests:

Seth Johnson – Blackwire Designs

Rich Ventura – NEC Display Solutions

Mark Vogel – Hauk Technology

Joe talks about the trade shows (and focuses on ISE – yes, Rich has a story (which he won’t tell). Kym is the first victim of the new AV Road House game – find out more (bring a glass). Rich Ventura talks about the NEC Showcase in NYC coming up on Oct. 24th, and what’s taking place in his personal bar area.

Joe’s new segment – Joe Knows… The News.

The “Sky is Falling” department:

But wait, there’s help on the way!!

The “Flush News” department:

Vizio to Pay $17M in ‘Spying’ Class-Action Lawsuit Decision by Jason Knott/CE Pro (Corey takes over for this one)

The article begins:

Vizio has settled a class action lawsuit regarding its embedded TV software that secretly tracked viewers watching habits and sold the data to third parties without their permission. Vizio already shelled out $2.2 million in 2017 in a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission for the same indiscretion. The company argued that FTC settlement precluded it from having also pay in this class action suit, but the judge disagreed.

This also includes a new segment “The Call” — Joe does this one. Kym, being an expert in data and human insights, also discusses data privacy and regulation.

All get into these discussions, and yes… wait to hear about “The Call.”

So enter the AV Road House, pick your favorite bar stool and have a great show! (Oh wait, that’s what they say to us…).

Note: There is language, and a 5 gallon bucket of mayonnaise. Blame Joe.
