Host Katye McGregor Bennett is joined on this first episode of AV Trade Talk by:
Noah Kaplan – President at Leon Speakers
Katye begins talking with Noah about the acquisition of Terra Speakers, and his relationship with James Banfield, formerly President at Terra Speakers (now Terra, a Leon Company). He talks about the advanced design of Terra Speakers as well as Leon’s, and the synergy they built with their relationship – and the decision to join forces.
Noah then talks about “change” in a radical way – new strategies that matter to people, converging audio, video and lighting. Noah then brings the term “imminent disruption” to the table.
Next Katye asks Noah about the 2018 Born Award received by the company, where Noah also talks about others who received awards, and his seeking design as it goes with creating technology solutions. He talks about their Lena Sound Sculpture which integrates art with audio. As a designer, Noah talks about how invisibility is not an option for audio for Leon.
Katye then talks with Noah about InfoComm 2018 and their booth at the show (will there be a waterfall?) – Noah talks about the Leon team and how they’re pulling off the booth design. Then Noah talks about some refreshments – listen in for this too.
Finally, Noah talks about pushing the industry in a new direction – a direction away from off-the-shelf and more about custom design engineered audio.
Listen to an insightful conversation about AV, design and innovation brought by one of the industry’s foremost creative executives (along with some of the humor Noah is known for) on this episode of AV Trade Talk.
Before listening, watch this video of Leon Speakers’ Dragon Sound Sculpture (which Noah refers to in the podcast).
