On Thursday March 15th I attended the AVIXA Women’s Council – DMV (Washington DC Metro) Group’s “March Madness” event at the Planar Systems DC showroom in Tysons, VA, organized and hosted by Megan Riddle – Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic at Planar Systems, Karen Cuviello – Corporate Vice President at Projection Presentation Technology, and Alexis La Broi – Systems Consultant at Avitecture, Inc.

An outstanding and very well attended event (by men as well) organized by Megan, Karen and Alexis, it truly showed what these types of events are meant to be about – talking AV, networking, and getting to be in-person with some who you may have only known in the AV online/social media world. It was a pleasure seeing some of the people I already know – Alexis and I have been friends for some time, and I had met Megan recently at the Almo E4 AV Tour here in Washington, DC. This along with getting to know some of the people who I’ve been connected with for quite some time on social media.

Here are some of those great AV women who attended the event (including Heidi Voorhees and Amanda Eberle Boyer with AVIXA). In fact one of the women is a high school graduate (her name is Bella – front row to the right) who I found out is interested in a career in AV,  and Alexis had brought her along. I spent some time at the end of the event talking with her, and getting to know more about her interests.

The next event is April 3rd, the AVIXA Women’s Council – NYC Metro Spring Fling – co-coordinators, Dayna Baumann and Gina Sansivero.
