Meridian Audio invited all CEDIA attendees to “Feel Every Emotion” as it celebrated its 40th Anniversary during CEDIA 2017 (Booth 4329). Visitors flocked to see a host of exciting new products on the booth and experienced Meridian performance as never before in an immersive purpose-built Sound Room and in partner booths across the show floor. Meridian also made headlines by winning three prestigious awards at the event for its ground-breaking 271 Digital Theater Controller and 251 Powered Zone Controller.
The 271 Digital Theater Controller and 251 Powered Zone Controller demonstrate the company’s commitment to innovation and premium quality performance. The 271 allows technology integrators to provide the best, immersive, hi-res audio for home theater, with the ability to integrate any analog or digital AV processor or receiver with Meridian’s DSP loudspeakers. Extending the 200 series further, the 251 brings Meridian’s superior audio performance to a variety of analog speaker applications. Its compact design features two powerful cool-running channels of on-board amplification enabled for hi-res audio, including Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) audio.
Both products were honored as CEDIA Best of Show winners by Residential Systems magazine. These awards recognize outstanding products exhibited at the show as determined by a panel of anonymous professional integrators and journalists. The 251 also picked up a CE Pro BEST Award at CEDIA in the Multiroom Audio Amplifier category.
Over 270 CEDIA attendees were able to “Feel Every Emotion” with Meridian in a dedicated Sound Room at the show. Created in partnership with Barco Residential, this exclusive space created an immersive home theatre experience, thanks to Meridian’s new 271 Digital Theater Controller, Barco’s highly acclaimed Loki 4K Cinemascope projector, a Contempo micro-frame screen and Cinema–ATS acoustic treatment from Display Technologies. All these products are featured in Meridian’s free Design & Specification Service, which enables integrators to create accurate, timesaving home cinema designs for their customers in double quick time. Meridian loudspeakers were also featured in the Barco and Josh.ai booths during the event.
“Meridian proved once again that its 200 series is about pushing innovation and audio boundaries forward while maintaining stunning digital audio performance at the core of the company’s culture,” said John Sciacca, one of the principals of South Carolina’s Custom Theater and Audio. “The new 251 Powered Zone Controller was one of the most impressive devices at the show, able to solve a myriad of custom installation issues and deliver terrific audio performance all in a form factor that can disappear behind a flat panel TV. The company also delivered the 271, a brilliantly designed product that allows Meridian speaker owners the ability to enjoy next generation immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, while still benefiting from the company’s renowned digital processing.”
Andrew Davis, CEO of Maryland-based Gramophone, agreed. “Meridian’s new 271 Digital Theater Controller enables us to ensure our clients always have the latest and greatest sound codec and connectivity. We can pick the pre-amp that best suits their needs and budget while delivering an absolute grand slam with Meridian’s active speakers. Their new line of products and surround room was clearly a “best of show”. “
Meridian also previewed two further new products at CEDIA. Shipping by the end of this year, Meridian’s new UHD722 HDMI Processor will provide a 4K switch solution with MMHR output for connection to existing processors. Meanwhile, the Meridian 210 streamer, will bring Bluetooth, Airplay and Spotify Connect to Meridian products. Both innovations received a warm reception.
