It began a few years back with my re-entry into the AV space in media, after years in commercial integration. I began podcasting on another platform, and as the producer, team member (and eventual host) it was my job to help come up with topics, invite guests, but mostly to put the show together from start to finish – think of it as being a podcast project manager in a sense. As a writer for all that time, I’ve committed myself to covering various realms of technology – AV, IT, IoT, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cybersecurity and more – and I’ve addressed those same subjects on podcasts as well.
If you look at the entire AV industry, you see how numerous technologies are covered on both sides of the spectrum – commercial and residential. Of course when exploring the commercial side, one looks at corporate, healthcare, education, government – just to name a few market realms. Residential is dedicated to just that – the home technology market – and for myself, a long-time commercial integrator, that side of the industry has been of great interest for me for several years now.
It’s been stated that the commercial side of the AV industry needs to pay close attention to what happens on the residential side, and of course as we know CEDIA 2017 is just around the corner. Here at Convergent AV we are providing some of the news coverage, however we have put together our pre-trade show podcast (as we do with other major trade shows) for the CEDIA show – ‘The AV Life,’ which we describe as a tech and humor podcast with team members (the Crew) from different walks of tech as well as industry marketing and communications.
This week, we presented the pre-CEDIA podcast with key people involved in the CEDIA and residential technology discussions.
Dave Pedigo – Vice President, Emerging Technologies at CEDIA
Walt Zerbe – Senior Director of Technologies & Standards at CEDIA
Alex Capecelatro – CEO at Josh.ai
Josh Christian – Director of Certification at Home Technology Association (HTA)
Mike Maniscalco – Co-Founder at Ihiji
The show is hosted by our residential technology specialist Katye McGregor Bennett, and can be heard in two parts. Give it a listen.
Note: You enjoy drinking a beer and networking at a trade show – on The AV Life, we do too.
