InfoComm 2017 ended with a flourish as the most attended show yet with 44,077 people in all passing through the show floor, attending education sessions, seminars and much more. Many of the exhibitors were pleased with the traffic, along with the interest and product and solutions inquiries they received from the attendees. All in all, a very successful show experience for all.
Crestron, one of audio visual’s most well-known manufacturers, as always brought their major industry profile to the show in terms of their thriving large booth space and top market solutions in control, network AV, switching and distribution, monitoring, collaboration, audio, wireless presentation and more.
Crestron’s message for InfoComm 2017: Enterprise Room Solutions|Simple, Scalable, Secure.
It always starts with the booth build – watch Crestron’s booth going up.
Convergent AV joined the Crestron Press Tour ready to see the company’s full focus on innovation and digital transformation looking to build on existing solutions, introduce new technologies, and enhance the customer experience. Jeff Singer Executive Director, Product Marketing provided the tour.
I had the opportunity to speak with Jeff on ‘The Show Corner’ podcast almost two weeks prior to InfoComm about various solutions Crestron was bringing to InfoComm 2017. I had first asked Jeff to zero in on Crestron and Enterprise Room solutions – here’s what he had to say:
Jeff also talked about new products and technologies that Crestron would be showcasing and how they apply to their message for the show:
Crestron brought its next generation DigitalMedia™ Series DigitalMedia™ NVX Series Network AV Solution, one of the company’s most notable innovations, which makes it possible to transmit 4K60 4:4:4 HDR video over standard 1 Gigabit Ethernet with no latency – an industry first noted by Crestron. DM® NVX Series provides an infinitely scalable network AV solution, from a simple point-to-point setup, to thousands of endpoints, and requires only DM NVX Encoders/Decoders. Built-in intelligent software makes everything easy to configure, commission, and control from the web.
The security factor is also a big part of the DigitalMedia NVX solution as it leverages 802.1x and Active Directory to provide network security at the product level.
Jeff talks about DigitalMedia NVX here:

The new Crestron DM® XiO Director delivers unlimited network AV scalability and flexibility with software-defined “virtual switchers.” DM® XiO facilitates configuration, control, and management of a large-scale AV network using DM® NVX encoder/decoders. It provides the virtual equivalent of one or more hardware-based DM matrix switchers.
The DM XiO Director provides a means for managing large networks of DM NVX devices, routing AV signals, and simplifying integration with one or more Crestron control systems.

Two things that are daily concerns for enterprise organizations – meeting room scheduling and availability. New in the Crestron products line is Crestron Room Scheduling Technology, simplifying room scheduling in hallways and in the room. Crestron’s TSW series touch screens connect directly to popular calendaring applications, and the new SSW room availability hallway sign makes finding available rooms easier than ever. You can do intelligent room search and more right from the Crestron PinPoint™ Mobile App.

Commercial audio solutions have been a growing profile year after year for Crestron. The company displayed Avia™ multichannel amplifiers and their line of modular amplifiers. The new high-efficiency multichannel amplifiers (below) support applications requiring simultaneous low and high impedance, as well as remote control and monitoring over the network. The modular line provides integrators with custom-configurable audio solutions which include energy-saving features and built-in fault protection along with modular construction.
The new precision-engineered Avia™ DSPs simplify audio programming, integration, and expansion in enterprise applications. The Avia software tool makes setting up and commissioning audio in meeting spaces faster and easier. They support audio over IP using the Dante™ network and integrate natively with DigitalMedia™, touch screens, Crestron Fusion® Cloud, and unified collaboration technology as part of a comprehensive Crestron solution.
At the show they introduced their new Vector Performance Loudspeakers, specifically designed for larger spaces within the enterprise. Paired with Avia™ digital signal processors, they provide optimal sound, clarity, and intelligibility for speech reinforcement and media reproduction.

The new Crestron Cloud Provisioning simplifies enterprise management and scalability where you can remotely configure one room or every room across the enterprise. You can also update firmware, manage licenses, and monitor the status of devices on the network.
Cloud Provisioning explained at the show.
After a major launch at ISE 2017, Crestron brought their unified communications and collaboration centerpiece product Mercury™ to InfoComm 2017. Mercury transforms any meeting room into a highly effective collaboration space, combining the necessary conferencing features in one easy to use device. No matter where they are, Mercury enables people to work together and share content. Mercury’s full-duplex audio and optional HD video provide a productive meeting experience for all participants. Integrated room scheduling and corporate directory access help to maximize efficiency. The product is secure, easy to deploy, easy to manage, and provides room usage data as part of a complete managed enterprise.
Unified Collaboration at Crestron is discussed here at the show, and the company made two major announcements concerning Mercury – Microsoft Office 365 support and native integration with Zoom Rooms.
I spoke with Jeff about Mercury, which he considers possibly one of the biggest product launches Crestron has ever had (he also addresses cloud provisioning):
