I first heard about it three years ago prior to InfoComm 2014 as there was a call out to take selfies (I’m sure it was by Chris Neto), and me being a small part of the fold at the time, I said why not grab a pic. Now I was by no means a selfie expert, actually far from it. I was at Tysons Corner Mall in Tysons, VA at the time and I decided to position myself at one of the entrances. Though there was no AV around me at the time, I said “hey I’m an AV person, that’s probably good enough.” So after what must have been 10 tries for just the right selfie pic, I finally came up with the one that I thought might be worthy of submission. I submitted another after that, one that I took in NYC in Times Square with signage behind me, which I thought might really qualify.
I watched the video, and here’s a screenshot from it – me with Harry Meade and Lainie Mataras, truly a “whoa” moment for me at the time. I had been in the AV industry for over 15 years, but never really had the opportunity to join in with the #AVTweeps community before then as I was doing commercial integration sales with an NJ integrator. The other picture of myself in NYC made it too, that was the AV money shot I guess.
I have seen myself in the subsequent years’ videos and I thank those involved for including me, as being a part of this great #AVTweeps community has been very important, and very special for me.
This year being no exception, again I’m pleased to be chosen among those who submitted #AVselfies for the video, which of course for a fourth year in a row is a production of (the great) The AV Pro HiPhi Phil Cordell.
Here it is, AV Nation’s InfoComm 2017 version, and it’s my pleasure to share it here on Convergent AV. There’s one of me at the Bose Store in the Loudoun County, VA outlets – hey another AV money shot I guess.
