Welcome to the second episode of a brand new podcast for the global AV industry (as well as anyone who likes to listen to a show that talks tech with humor and an all around good time) and join The Crew Corey Moss, Justin Watts, Deron Pinchback and Megan Powers– as they welcome their guests:
Chuck Espinoza – Staff Instructor at InfoComm International
Paul Zielie – Manager, Enterprise Solutions at HARMAN International
Timo Kaupila – CEO at Catchbox
In an extended show (of course you want to hear every word said by the two industry gurus on the podcast) The Crew begins with the usual intro and the industry shout-outs – listen in to find out who got them.
If we were to tell you that you were listening to two shows in one would you believe it? Well, believe it as in the first half the Crew talks with the guests about their goings-on and whereabouts (as in where in the world is Paul Zielie?), along with some excellent discussion with Timo Kaupila about the Catchbox, a throwable wireless microphone system for conferences, events and education which is also customizable as you will hear. Timo is truly a standout executive as he comes to us all the way from Finland in the early hours (3:30 AM to be exact) – now that’s dedication!
The “Mad Sound Guy” Chuck Espinoza is back in a big way, and for those who know Chuck you’ll know what we mean. There is not a greater person to have on a podcast if you want to hear the scoop about industry education and instruction, along with the great humor one individual can bring. And we mean – none. Also a word of advice, when you attend Paul’s industry classes no talking. You’ll hear why.
Speaking about what you’ll hear, the TASCAM MiNiSTUDIO Creator USB audio effects interface makes a return visit with some cool effects, and it also brings you the sound (for the first time anywhere) of the Catchbox meeting Chuck’s head at InfoComm 2016. If you saw the video, you have to hear this. If not, you still have to hear this.
At the break the Crew and guests discussed two industry stories:
Component Biamp: Vocia and NFPA 72 Compliance – Bill Nattress (who was a guest on the first episode) talks about emergency communications systems (ECS) and three components – audibility, intelligible and intelligibility – along with opportunities for integrators.
Digital Trends: Samsung Wants in on Car Electronics, Just Paid $8 Billion for HARMAN – a story that needs almost no explanation, however let’s say it brought about excellent (and some fun) discussion with Paul.
After the Tier PM Job announcements for those AV/IT industry job seekers out there, we went to the second half as Justin took over to host an insightful (and dare we say fun?) discussion on live events and production with further talk about the Catchbox as well. Great input from Chuck and the others, and Megan, who is a marketer on the live events side of the industry, had a great shoutout here as well.
So sit back, plug in, grab the cold one of your choosing and live…
The AV Life.
